Dump-Off Season is Upon Us

I have seen from the likes of facebook status updates and tweets that Dump-Off season has started off early this year. Even this website posted something to that effect See here.

For those of you who do not know, relationships have seasons like the weather. We are in the middle of a transition from one to the other. If you are unsure what Dump-Off season is let me explain.

Dump off season – The time after Get Close season and before Wabbit season. Dump-Off season is the time one prepares him or herself for Wabbit season. Dump-Off season is meant for relationships that were not real for the most part. These relationships happen partially because people needed human blankets, Christmas gifts, and cuddle time for the cold months.

To those of you out there, do not be surprised to see a crazy ass text message that read “It’s over.” Don’t be mad when you meet up with your boo and they lay that bomb on you. Be ready to get that call from your friend telling you that your boo is at the mall with your possible replacement.

If you don’t believe what I’m saying, just look around. On the social networks, watch how over the next 2-3 months, a lot of folk will go from “in a relationship” to “single” or “complicated.”  Also use this It’s Complicated reference for more information.  Watch for the angry tweets.  Pay attention to your co-workers who are catching the bad side of it. Don’t laugh out loud at Lisa’s bare desk in March who was continuously got flowers at the job in December. So what, she’s runs around singing Ain’t No Sunshine by Bill Withers.

Dumpees below are some signs that should prepare you for the worst.

1. Stupid fights for no reason.
2. The conversations that start with, “I need to find myself”, “I feel lost”, “I need something new…”
3. You and your mate are not talking like you were a few months ago.
4. Your mate is going out to new places without you.
6. Your mate suggests you do things without him/her.
7. Your mate suggestion you stay at your place.

Dumpee don’t get mad just protect yourself. You had your time in the Get Familiar season just take these lessons and be strong in the Dump-Off season. Note: the dumper needs to have time to get you out of the picture and be on point for Wabbit season.

Prepare yourself. You have been warned!

Wow! You mean my boo ain’t really have time to dry off after her weekly 2-hour exercise classes? LOL
